Being asked to put in a word
When someone came needing something, he ﷺ turned to those around him first.
اشْفَعُوا فَلْتُؤْجَرُوا، وَيَقْضِي اللَّهُ عَلَى لِسَانِ رَسُولِهِ مَا شَاءَ
Intercede, and you will be rewarded. And Allah decides through the tongue of His Prophet what He wills.
He could have simply given. He created an opportunity for other people to be rewarded for helping.
The full narration
Narrated Abu Musa:Whenever a beggar or a person in need of something came to the Prophet (ﷺ) , he used to say (to his companions), "Intercede (for him) and you will be rewarded for that, and Allah will fulfill what He will through His Apostle's tongue
