The single request he ranked above all others

مَا مِنْ دَعْوَةٍ يَدْعُو بِهَا الْعَبْدُ أَفْضَلَ مِنَ - اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ الْمُعَافَاةَ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالآخِرَةِ
Allāhumma innī asʾaluka-l-muʿāfāta fi-d-dunyā wa-l-ākhirah
“O Allah, I ask You for wellbeing in this world and the next.”
Where this comes from
There is no supplication a servant makes better than this one. Muʿāfāh is not health and it is not comfort. It is being let off, being kept clear of the thing rather than carried through it.
The full narration
It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said:"The Messenger of Allah (saas) said: 'There is no supplication that a person can say that is better than: Allahumma inni as'aluka al-mu'afah fid-dunya wal-akhirah (O Allah, I ask You for Al-Mu'afah in this world and in the Hereafter)
