What his Lord promised him about his community
He swore on it before he said it.
Wa laqad waʿadanī rabbī an yudkhila-l-jannata min ummatī sabʿīna alfan bi-ghayri ḥisāb
“My Lord has promised me that seventy thousand of my community will enter the Garden with no reckoning.”
Where this comes from
He began: by the One in whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, no servant believes and then holds steady but that he is walked into the Garden. Then he said he hoped they would not enter before his listeners and the righteous among their children had taken their places in it.
The full narration
It was narrated that Rifa’ah Al-Juhani said:“We came back (from a campaign) with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and he said: ‘By the One in Whose Hand is the soul of Muhammad, there is no person who believes then stands firm, but he will be caused to enter Paradise. I hope that they will not enter it until you and those who are righteous among your offspring will enter it and take up your dwelling places therein. And my Lord has promised me that seventy thousand of my nation will enter Paradise without being brought to account.’”
