When intrusive thoughts attack your faith
The Companions asked about thoughts too terrible to speak. The Prophet ﷺ called that fear itself a sign of clear faith.
ذَاكَ صَرِيحُ الإِيمَانِ
That is clear faith.
The Companions came to the Prophet ﷺ saying they found thoughts in themselves too terrible to say aloud. He did not scold them. He told them that being horrified by the thought is itself the proof of belief. A heart that did not believe would not recoil.
The full narration
It is narrated on the authority of Abu Huraira that some people from amongst the Companions of the Apostle (ﷺ) came to him and said:Verily we perceive in our minds that which every one of us considers it too grave to express. He (the Holy Prophet) said: Do you really perceive it? They said: Yes. Upon this he remarked: That is the faith manifest
