Seeking forgiveness

Before you tell someone what Islam says

The sin is assigned, and not to the person who asked.

مَنْ أُفْتِيَ بِفُتْيَا غَيْرَ ثَبَتٍ فَإِنَّمَا إِثْمُهُ عَلَى مَنْ أَفْتَاهُ

Whoever is given a verdict that has no basis, the sin of it is upon the one who issued it.

A useful thing to hold in mind before answering a religious question confidently, and before accepting an answer given confidently.

The full narration

It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said:"The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'Whoever is given a Fatwa (verdict) that has no basis, then his sin will be upon the one who issued that Fatwa
