Asking someone to tell you the future
A specific consequence, attached to merely asking.
مَنْ أَتَى عَرَّافًا فَسَأَلَهُ عَنْ شَىْءٍ لَمْ تُقْبَلْ لَهُ صَلاَةٌ أَرْبَعِينَ لَيْلَةً
Whoever visits a fortune teller and asks him about anything, his prayers will not be accepted for forty nights.
The full narration
Safiyya reported from some of the wives of Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) having said:He who visits a diviner ('Arraf) and asks him about anything, his prayers extending to forty nights will not be accepted
