What he told Hakim after giving him three times
Hakim never asked anyone for anything again.
إِنَّ هَذَا الْمَالَ خَضِرَةٌ حُلْوَةٌ، فَمَنْ أَخَذَهُ بِطِيبِ نَفْسٍ بُورِكَ لَهُ فِيهِ، وَمَنْ أَخَذَهُ بِإِشْرَافِ نَفْسٍ لَمْ يُبَارَكْ لَهُ فِيهِ، وَكَانَ كَالَّذِي يَأْكُلُ وَلاَ يَشْبَعُ
Inna hādha-l-māla khaḍiratun ḥulwah. Fa-man akhadhahu bi-ṭībi nafsin būrika lahu fīh, wa man akhadhahu bi-ishrāfi nafsin lam yubārak lahu fīh, wa kāna ka-lladhī yaʾkulu wa lā yashbaʿ
“This wealth is green and sweet. Whoever takes it with a contented heart is blessed in it. Whoever takes it with a craving heart is not blessed in it, and is like the one who eats and is not filled.”
The upper hand is better than the lower hand.
Where this comes from
Hakim had asked three times and been given three times. The difference named is not in the money and not in the amount. It is in what was going on in the person at the moment of taking it.

Narrated Hakim bin Hizam:I asked the Prophet (for some money) and he gave me, and then again I asked him and he gave me, and then again I asked him and he gave me and he then said, "This wealth is (like) green and sweet (fruit), and whoever takes it without greed, Allah will bless it for him, but whoever takes it with greed, Allah will not bless it for him, and he will be like the one who eats but is never satisfied. And the upper (giving) hand is better than the lower (taking) hand
