A prayer for whoever leads and whoever calls
Both roles are named, with a different word for each.
الإِمَامُ ضَامِنٌ وَالْمُؤَذِّنُ مُؤْتَمَنٌ اللَّهُمَّ أَرْشِدِ الأَئِمَّةَ وَاغْفِرْ لِلْمُؤَذِّنِينَ
Al-imāmu ḍāminun wa-l-muʾadhdhinu muʾtaman. Allāhumma arshidi-l-aʾimmata wa-ghfir li-l-muʾadhdhinīn
“The imam carries a responsibility and the caller holds a trust. O Allah, guide the imams and forgive the callers.”
Where this comes from
Two jobs, two liabilities. The one in front is answerable for the prayer behind him, so the prayer for him is guidance. The one on the minaret is trusted with the time, so the prayer for him is forgiveness.
