What he said about Abu Bakr in the same sermon
He named the one exception and then closed it off.
إِنَّهُ لَيْسَ مِنَ النَّاسِ أَحَدٌ أَمَنَّ عَلَىَّ فِي نَفْسِهِ وَمَالِهِ مِنْ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ أَبِي قُحَافَةَ
Innahu laysa mina-n-nāsi aḥadun amanna ʿalayya fī nafsihi wa mālihi min Abī Bakri-bni Abī Quḥāfah
“There is no one among people who has been more generous to me with himself and his wealth than Abu Bakr ibn Abi Quhafah.”
Where this comes from
He went on: and if I were to take a bosom friend from among people I would have taken Abu Bakr. But the brotherhood of Islam and its affection is enough. Then he ordered every door onto the mosque closed except Abu Bakr's.

Narrated Ibn `Abbas:"Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) in his fatal illness came out with a piece of cloth tied round his head and sat on the pulpit. After thanking and praising Allah he said, "There is no one who had done more favor to me with life and property than Abu Bakr bin Abi Quhafa. If I were to take a Khalil, I would certainly have taken Abu- Bakr but the Islamic brotherhood is superior. Close all the small doors in this mosque except that of Abu Bakr
