Children

Four words before, and what they cover

It asks about somebody who does not exist yet.

بِاسْمِ اللَّهِ، اللَّهُمَّ جَنِّبْنِي الشَّيْطَانَ، وَجَنِّبِ الشَّيْطَانَ مَا رَزَقْتَنَا

Bismi-Llāh. Allāhumma jannibni-sh-shayṭān, wa jannibi-sh-shayṭāna mā razaqtanā

“In the name of Allah. O Allah, keep Satan away from me, and keep Satan away from what You provide us.”

Where this comes from

If a child is decreed for them from that, no devil will ever harm him. The second clause is a request made on behalf of a person who has not been conceived.

The full narration

Narrated Ibn `Abbas:The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "If anyone of you, when having sexual intercourse with his wife, says: Bismillah, Allahumma jannibni-Sh-Shaitan wa jannib-ish-Shaitan ma razaqtana, and if it is destined that they should have a child, then Satan will never be able to harm him
