A short prayer with a wide reach
Two words that are two forms of the same verb.
اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْهُ هَادِيًا مَهْدِيًّا وَاهْدِ بِهِ
Allāhumma-jʿalhu hādiyan mahdiyyan wa-hdi bih
“O Allah, make him one who guides and one who is guided, and guide others through him.”
Where this comes from
Hādī is the one doing the guiding and mahdī is the one being guided, and the second has to come first. Then the third clause turns him into a route rather than a destination.

Narrated 'Abdur-Rahman bin Abu 'Umairah - and he was one of the Companions of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ):from the Prophet (ﷺ), that he said to Mu'awiyah: "O Allah, make him a guiding one, and guide (others) by him
