Three verses about the human being, stated flatly.

إِنَّ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ لِرَبِّهِۦ لَكَنُودٌ وَإِنَّهُۥ عَلَىٰ ذَٰلِكَ لَشَهِيدٌ وَإِنَّهُۥ لِحُبِّ ٱلْخَيْرِ لَشَدِيدٌ

Inna-l-insāna li-rabbihi la-kanūd, wa innahu ʿalā dhālika la-shahīd, wa innahu li-ḥubbi-l-khayri la-shadīd.

“Indeed mankind, to his Lord, is ungrateful. And indeed, he is to that a witness.1 And indeed he is, in love of wealth, intense.”
