What he said when he asked for rain
People come before animals, and land comes last.
اللَّهُمَّ اسْقِ عِبَادَكَ وَبَهِيمَتَكَ وَانْشُرْ رَحْمَتَكَ وَأَحْىِ بَلَدَكَ الْمَيِّتَ
Allāhumma-sqi ʿibādaka wa bahīmatak, wa-nshur raḥmatak, wa aḥyi baladaka-l-mayyit
“O Allah, water Your servants and Your animals, spread Your mercy, and bring Your dead land back to life.”
Where this comes from
Every noun in it is possessive and none of them are his. Your servants, Your animals, Your mercy, Your land. He is not asking for something to be given to him. He is asking for something to be given back to what it belongs to.
The full narration
Yahya related to me from Malik from Yahya ibn Said from Amr ibn Shuayb that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, when he asked for rain, "O Allah, give water to Your slaves and Your animals, and spread Your mercy, and give life to Your dead land
