What he said when he saw someone off
Abu Hurayrah reports it as said to him personally.
أَسْتَوْدِعُكَ اللَّهَ الَّذِي لاَ تَضِيعُ وَدَائِعُهُ
Astawdiʿuka-Llāha-lladhī lā taḍīʿu wadāʾiʿuh
“I place you in the keeping of Allah, whose deposits are never lost.”
Where this comes from
Wadīʿah is something handed over for safekeeping with the expectation of getting it back. He is not saying goodbye. He is lodging the person somewhere, and naming the one property of the place that matters.
The full narration
It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said:“The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) gave me a send-off and said: ‘I command you to Allah’s keeping, Whose trust is never lost.’”
