Who he saw going in
He describes standing at two gates.
قُمْتُ عَلَى باب الْجَنَّةِ فَكَانَ عَامَّةَ مَنْ دَخَلَهَا الْمَسَاكِينُ، وَأَصْحَابُ الْجَدِّ مَحْبُوسُونَ
Qumtu ʿalā bābi-l-jannati fa-kāna ʿāmmata man dakhalahā-l-masākīn, wa aṣḥābu-l-jaddi maḥbūsūn
“I stood at the gate of the Garden, and most of those entering it were the poor. The people of fortune were held back,”
Where this comes from
Except that the people of the Fire had already been ordered to the Fire. Being held at the gate is described as a delay for the accounting rather than a refusal.

Narrated Usama:The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "I stood at the gate of Paradise and saw that the majority of the people who entered it were the poor, while the wealthy were stopped at the gate (for the accounts). But the companions of the Fire were ordered to be taken to the Fire. Then I stood at the gate of the Fire and saw that the majority of those who entered it were women
