Why any of this was set up
The stated purpose of creating death and life, in that order.
ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ ٱلْمَوْتَ وَٱلْحَيَوٰةَ لِيَبْلُوَكُمْ أَيُّكُمْ أَحْسَنُ عَمَلًا ۚ وَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلْغَفُورُ
Alladhī khalaqa-l-mawta wa-l-ḥayāta li-yabluwakum ayyukum aḥsanu ʿamalā…
“[He] who created death and life to test you [as to] which of you is best in deed - and He is the Exalted in Might, the Forgiving -”
Not most in deed. Best. The measure is quality, not quantity.
