When someone you love will not listen
Revealed about the Prophet's ﷺ own uncle, who died refusing.
إِنَّكَ لَا تَهْدِى مَنْ أَحْبَبْتَ وَلَـٰكِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَهْدِى مَن يَشَآءُ ۚ وَهُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِٱلْمُهْتَدِينَ
Innaka lā tahdī man aḥbabta wa lākinna-llāha yahdī man yashā'…
“Indeed, [O Muḥammad], you do not guide whom you like, but Allāh guides whom He wills. And He is most knowing of the [rightly] guided.”
Said to the one person best able to convince anybody. It is not a criticism of your effort. It is a limit on what effort can do.
