A man who gave the worst animal he had
And what happened when the words reached him.
اللَّهُمَّ لاَ تُبَارِكْ فِيهِ وَلاَ فِي إِبِلِهِ
Allāhumma lā tubārik fīhi wa lā fī ibilih
“O Allah, do not bless him or his camels.”
O Allah, bless him and his camels.
Where this comes from
A collector was sent and a man handed over a thin weaned calf. The Prophet said this out loud. It got back to the man, who came leading a fine she camel and said: I turn back to Allah and to His Prophet. And the same sentence was said again with the negative taken out of it.
The full narration
It was narrated from wa'il bin Hujr that:the Prophet sent a collector and he came to a man who brought him a slim, recently-weaned camel. The Prophet said: "We sent to Zakah collector of Allah and His Messenger, and so-and-so gave him a slim, recently-weaned camel. O Allah, do not bless him nor his camels!" News of that reached the man, so he came with a beautiful she-camel and said: "I repent to Allah and to His Prophet. " The Prophet said: "O Allah, bless him and his camels!" (Daif)
