Saying goodbye to someone leaving
The Prophet ﷺ would entrust three things about the traveller to Allah.
أَسْتَوْدِعُ اللَّهَ دِينَكَ وَأَمَانَتَكَ وَخَوَاتِيمَ عَمَلِكَ
Astawdiʿu-llāha dīnaka wa amānataka wa khawātīma ʿamalik.
“I entrust to Allah your religion, what has been placed in your care, and the endings of your deeds.”
Not their safety first, but their religion. What is entrusted is what he considered most at risk on a journey.
The full narration
Qaza’ah said Ibn ‘Umar told me “Come, I see off you as the Apostle of Allaah(ﷺ) saw me off. I entrust to Allaah your religion what you are responsible for and your final deeds.”
