Nobody is married without being asked
They asked how a shy answer would be recognised.
لاَ تُنْكَحُ الأَيِّمُ حَتَّى تُسْتَأْمَرَ وَلاَ تُنْكَحُ الْبِكْرُ حَتَّى تُسْتَأْذَنَ
Lā tunkaḥu-l-ayyimu ḥattā tustaʾmar, wa lā tunkaḥu-l-bikru ḥattā tustaʾdhan
A previously married woman is not given in marriage until she is consulted, and a woman who has not married before is not given in marriage until her permission is sought.
Where this comes from
They said: Messenger of Allah, how is her permission given? He said: that she stays silent. Two different verbs are used, one for each, and both of them mean asking.
The full narration
Narrated Abu Huraira:The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "A matron should not be given in marriage except after consulting her; and a virgin should not be given in marriage except after her permission." The people asked, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! How can we know her permission?" He said, "Her silence (indicates her permission)
