Losing someone

Prayer that does not reach the person next to you

A sūrah that begins with religion and ends with a bowl not lent.

A-ra'ayta-lladhī yukadhdhibu bi-d-dīn, fa-dhālika-lladhī yaduʿʿu-l-yatīm…

“Have you seen the one who denies the Recompense? For that is the one who drives away the orphan And does not encourage the feeding of the poor. So woe to those who pray [But] who are heedless of their prayer1 - Those who make show [of their deeds] And withhold [simple] assistance.”

The people criticised here are praying. What is held against them is that it changed nothing about how they treat an orphan or a neighbour.
