What he asked for when they came to him crying

اللَّهُمَّ اسْقِنَا غَيْثًا مُغِيثًا مَرِيئًا مَرِيعاً نَافِعًا غَيْرَ ضَارٍّ عَاجِلاً غَيْرَ آجِلٍ
Allāhumma-sqinā ghaythan mughīthan marīʾan marīʿan nāfiʿan ghayra ḍārrin ʿājilan ghayra ājil
“O Allah, water us with rain that relieves, wholesome, filling the pasture, useful and not harmful, soon and not delayed.”
Where this comes from
Jabir says they came to him weeping from the drought. He did not just ask for rain. He specified the kind, ruled out the kind that destroys, and set the timing. Jabir says the sky closed over them.

Narrated Jabir ibn Abdullah: The people came to the Prophet (ﷺ) weeping (due to drought). He said (making supplication): O Allah! give us rain which will replenish us, abundant, fertilising and profitable, not injurious, granting it now without delay. He (the narrator) said: Thereupon the sky became overcast
