What he said as the food was taken away
It refuses to say goodbye to the thing it is thanking for.
الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ حَمْدًا كَثِيرًا طَيِّبًا مُبَارَكًا فِيهِ غَيْرَ مُوَدَّعٍ وَلاَ مُسْتَغْنًى عَنْهُ رَبُّنَا
Al-ḥamdu lillāhi ḥamdan kathīran ṭayyiban mubārakan fīh, ghayra muwaddaʿin wa lā mustaghnan ʿanhu rabbanā
“Praise be to Allah, praise that is abundant, good and blessed, not a farewell and not something we can do without, our Lord.”
Where this comes from
Abu Umamah says this is what he said when the spread was lifted from in front of him. The two negatives at the end are the whole point. Not a parting word, and not a thing we could manage without.
The full narration
Abu Umamah narrated that :when the table spread would be lifted from in front of him, the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) would say: “All praise is due to Allah, abundant, good, blessed praise, without being left off, nor being without need of it, O our Lord (Al-ḥamdulillāhi ḥamdan kathīran ṭayyiban mubārakan fīhi, ghaira muwadda`in, wa lā mustaghnan `anhu rabbanā).”
