Anxiety & worry

When worry and sadness sit on your chest

A du'ā the Prophet ﷺ said often, naming worry, grief, weakness and debt one by one.

Allāhumma innī aʿūdhu bika mina-l-hammi wa-l-ḥazan, wa-l-ʿajzi wa-l-kasal, wa-l-jubni wa-l-bukhl, wa ḍalaʿi-d-dayn, wa ghalabati-r-rijāl.

“O Allah, I seek refuge in You from worry and grief, from incapacity and laziness, from cowardice and miserliness, from the burden of debt and from being overpowered by men.”
