Joy & gratitude

The word used is with, not after

Ibn ʿAbbās said one hardship will never overcome two eases.

فَإِنَّ مَعَ ٱلْعُسْرِ يُسْرًا إِنَّ مَعَ ٱلْعُسْرِ يُسْرًا

Fa-inna maʿa-l-ʿusri yusrā, inna maʿa-l-ʿusri yusrā.

“For indeed, with hardship [will be] ease [i.e., relief]. Indeed, with hardship [will be] ease.”

The hardship is definite both times and the ease indefinite, which the commentators read as one difficulty and two reliefs.
