As you lie down for the night
Said with the hand under the cheek, entrusting the soul to the One who takes it.
ثُمَّ لْيَقُلْ بِاسْمِكَ رَبِّي وَضَعْتُ جَنْبِي فَإِنْ أَحْيَيْتَ نَفْسِي فَارْحَمْهَا
Bismika rabbī waḍaʿtu janbī, fa-in aḥyayta nafsī fa-rḥamhā, wa in amattahā fa-ghfir lahā.
“In Your name, my Lord, I lay down my side. If You take my soul, have mercy on it; and if You send it back, protect it as You protect Your righteous servants.”
The full narration
This hadith has been narrated on the authority of Ubaidullah b. Umar with the same chain of transmitters and he said:Then utter:" My Lord. with Thine name I place my side and if Thou keepest me alive have mercy upon myself
