Before something you are dreading
Said by a small army the moment they saw how large the other one was.
وَلَمَّا بَرَزُوا۟ لِجَالُوتَ وَجُنُودِهِۦ قَالُوا۟ رَبَّنَآ أَفْرِغْ عَلَيْنَا صَبْرًا وَثَبِّتْ أَقْدَامَنَا وَٱنصُرْنَا عَلَى ٱلْقَوْمِ ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ
Rabbanā afrigh ʿalaynā ṣabran wa thabbit aqdāmanā wa-nṣurnā ʿala-l-qawmi-l-kāfirīn.
And when they went forth to [face] Goliath and his soldiers, they said, "Our Lord, pour upon us patience and plant firmly our feet and give us victory over the disbelieving people."
Where this comes from
They were outnumbered and said it out loud, together, before walking forward anyway. The word used for patience here is poured, as if it comes down over you from outside.
