The first words revealed
He was told to read, and said he could not.
Iqra' bismi rabbika-lladhī khalaq, khalaqa-l-insāna min ʿalaq, iqra' wa rabbuka-l-akram…
“Recite in the name of your Lord who created Created man from a clinging substance. Recite, and your Lord is the most Generous - Who taught by the pen Taught man that which he knew not.”
Where this comes from
He was alone in a cave when he was seized and told to recite. He answered that he was not a reader. It happened three times before the words came.
