Loneliness

Two things promised for one act

Both of them are things people cannot arrange for themselves.

مَنْ سَرَّهُ أَنْ يُبْسَطَ لَهُ فِي رِزْقِهِ، وَأَنْ يُنْسَأَ لَهُ فِي أَثَرِهِ، فَلْيَصِلْ رَحِمَهُ

Man sarrahu an yubsaṭa lahu fī rizqihi wa an yunsaʾa lahu fī atharih, fa-l-yaṣil raḥimah

Whoever would like his provision widened and his trace extended, let him keep the ties of his kinship.

Where this comes from

Athar is the track a person leaves behind them. Both things named are outside anybody's control, and the one action offered in exchange is the phone call nobody wants to make.

The full narration

Narrated Abu Huraira:I heard Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) saying, "Who ever is pleased that he be granted more wealth and that his lease of life be pro longed, then he should keep good relations with his Kith and kin
